“Am I too old to work out?” A lot of people are asking themselves this question. I am 49 years old and don’t believe I will ever be too old to work out. As I get older, I realize that my routines would all have to be adjusted to meet my capabilities. First, do you have any physical restrictions and could you make changes in your workout to accommodate? Second, if you have no physical restrictions, do you have the desire to change the way you look and feel? Believe it or not the second is usually why people end up not working out. The mind hates the pain that a workout brings and loves not having the pain at all. The trick is to make you mind happy by giving it something it likes, sort of like a child is happy when it gets ice cream. I like to call it brain food. No matter how old you are you have to convince the mind that it should be happy about working out. If it is a real burden to get up in the morning and work out you have to convince you mind that it is not a burden. Fill your mind with positive thoughts. A positive thought might be that you are going to feel much better with less weight. Another thought could be that you are going to look better to others. You may want to increase you chance to live a longer and healthier life. A real motivator might be the reaction you get from someone special in you life. That special person might be very happy to see you trying to improve your health and looks. So it all comes down to physical ability and the desire to improve your way of living. I believe that you are never too old to adopt a workout that fits your particular situation. Consulting your doctor would be your first move if you have limited abilities. Don’t over do it but remember to strive to get the most out of your workouts. Good health and fitness is the first step to living a quality life. Start now because the next week, month, or 6 months are going to go by regardless of what you do. So make time work for you by putting in some effort and have results in the next 3 months. Or you could do nothing for the next 3 months and have zero results. How much time do you have to improve your way of living. Time can be your friend or your enemy. The choice is yours.
